All bus drivers must have a Passenger Vehicles (P-endorsement) on their CDL to drive a vehicle designed to seat more than 16 or more persons, including the bus driver. To get the endorsement you must pass a knowledge test on Section 2 (Driving Safely) and Section 4 (Transporting Passengers Safely) of your state CDL manual. If your bus has air brakes, you must also pass a knowledge test on Section 5 (Air Brakes). You must pass the skills tests required for the class of vehicle you want to drive.
