TV remotes used to set semis ablaze in apparent arson

On Sunday night in Holyoke, Ma., 2 semis were set on fire, apparently intentionally triggered by Comcast TV remotes in each of the trucks. A third truck caught on fire as the flames spread.

The fire sent a “thick black plume of smoke” into the night air, which could be smelled a good distance away on I-391 in Chicopee, MA.

  • The trucks contained Comcast TV remotes which are thought to have caught fire.
  • It’s believed the fire was intentionally set, but an investigation has begun that will hopefully bring more answers.

Arson investigators and the State Police Fire Marshal are looking into how it started. Lt. Cruz said they believe it was intentionally set.

Crew battled flames for hours, according to WWLP. There are no reports of injury.
