Crazy winds blow tractor trailer over onto car in TN storm (updated)

UPDATE:
Well, turns out the trailer of that CRST rig WAS empty, which is no real big surprise. We also know now that the CRST driver was 71-year-old Vinson Lawrence from California, who had this to say:

“All of a sudden, it just blew over. It was one scary feeling. The wind just treated this tractor-trailer like a pancake. It just flipped it.”

“It just shows you how powerful Mother Nature can be,” Lawrence continued. “It was a blink of an eye.”

And “…by the trailer being empty, there was no saving it”.

As for Roger Jones, who was live streaming on Facebook when it happened:

“I just felt like something bad was about to happen and I was caught up in the moment, so I decided to record it,” Jones told Channel 4. “My phone’s been going crazy. My Facebook is blowing up.”

It’s fortunate that no one was injured but Lawrence had this to say:

“I’m a little sore in the neck,” he said. “But other than that, I’m happy, thankful and blessed to be alive.”

Original Story:

As storm winds roar on in Tennessee, a CRST big rig got blown over by intense winds, with the trailer ending up leaning on top of a car. The incident happened on South Church Street at exit 81 off of I-24 in Murfreesboro, TN on Tuesday night.

Watch as the semi starts to get blown over just as it’s passing Roger Jones, a motorist taking the video from the other side of the road.

“The wind was blowing really really hard,” Jones said. “I knew something was about to happen. I just decided to put my phone out, and all of a sudden this tractor trailer is coming through. I happened to catch it when it was falling.”

After the trailer rolls over onto the car, Jones continues filming and yelling at the driver of the car to get the heck out while he can. Jones believes the driver was “in shock” from the trauma, probably too scared to even move.

“I was like oh my God I need to help this guy get out but the wind was blowing so hard, it blew me back into the vehicle,” Jones said. “I was trying to get the door open it just got pushed back in to me.”

No report yet if anyone was injured in the crash, but it’s fortunate it happened in slow motion, and the car was not totally flattened.

It’s not know whether the trailer was empty or very light, which would be a factor in its getting blown over.

Empty trailer. Bad news for truck driver. Good news for car driver.
